How about a support gem similar to the Multiple Totems support gem, except for golems? It could probably function pretty much the same way (only allowing extra golems for the golem gems it's linked to), maybe with similar penalties.
This would make players a bit less reliant on various uniques or ascendancies (or that one passive) for golems and also open up another support option or even build option for those that wanted multiple types of golems but were held back by the shared limit (since such a gem would allow one of the golems to go beyond the limit, just like Searing Bond or Ballista totems)

There are too many golem number increasing sources. No need to make golems more viable than they are.

And they all have quite a cost ... only the Anima stone does not cost that much build wise (it does currency wise).
A support gem is also costly, it could be balanced.

One non minion related problem is you can link that support to lightning golem, ice golem and fire golem and get all of their buffs

we got plenty of +1 golem sources, a bit on the expensive side but they are there.
if anything we need one that let us focus on summoning 1 strong minion

adding more options to get + golems is very dangerous with elementalist in its current form.
i made a build that goes for 5 differen golems while having 6 active.
the build has over 50% phy dmg reduction while channeled (3 minimum end charges + chaos golem buff + phy while channeling + soul of steel on amulet)
the buffs + lightning exposure from lightning golem is kinda insane.
the dmg is "good" enough for uberelder,but ofc other builds can get a lot more
it was the tankiest non jugg build i played for a long long time though even beating the dmg taken as chaos dmg stuff from legion.

golem glutony support:
suported golem skill has a base mana reservation of 25% (increace and decreace to reservation apply to it)
suported golem skills gain +1 skill level every 1000 life reserved by the skill
suported golem skills gain 1% increased effect of buff every 100 mana reserved by the skill
suported golem skills gain increased aoe and size every 100 life or mana reserved
suported golem skills will eat ally golems and gain canibalism charges
canibalism charge: increace golem damage and health per charge, canibalism charges count towards the maximum amount of golems so summoning new golems when the max is reached will remove a charge.
would be funny to have something like that.
