I feel like I'm missing something. I changed my build around as advised but I certainly do not feel tankier with this setup.

So under this, 30% of your damage is taken from mana, which is protected by ES.

So whenever you take any damage, 70% comes from your health pool, 30% is absorbed by ES.

With 4.5k hp and 4.5k ES, the EHP is 4500 / 70 * 100 = 6429 (if you take this much damage you die, just as you would if you had this much life and no ES)

While without this talent and this much hp/es, you would be able to sustain 9000 damage before dying.

I'm assuming I'm wrong somehow, but please explain how? I've died more in recent times after the change than I feel I did beforehand...

It's not 30% it's calculated with basic algebra which means you divide 3 by 7 which is 0.4285 => 43%
which means with 4.5k HP and minimum of 43% (preferably 50% of that as ES to cover for connecting hits as well as mana cost) you land on: 6435 HP. Keep in mind now that with this approach you can use life flasks to get your HP back up directly, which means that connecting hits are less rippy as you will be able to sustain your effective HP pool.

However, taking a look at the other approach which means not taking keystones and simply settling with the "standard hybrid" approach:
You would have in your example of 4.5k HP & 4.5k ES => 9000 effective HP. This is absolutely true and a solid number. The problem that is standard hybrid is a few things:

1) If you get hit for 5000 DMG you will in this example have 4000 HP left, sure, you can flask up those lacking 500 and land on 4500 HP but you have to get out of harms way for a few seconds AND wait for ES recharge to bring the remaining 4500 back up. Compare that with the keystone approach where you can take a hit of 5000 DMG which brings you down to 1.4k HP but you can directly flask yourself back up to 4500 life & as long as you have ES that still provides you with eHP which in this specific scenario of having 4500 ES as well would only be down to 2.5k ES ish which is still more than enough to fully sustain the eHP provided by the keystones.

2) Standard hybrid is generally frowned upon by most content creators and/or build creators due to the inability to sustain the eHP for you as a player. Obviously this does come down to a matter of taste. And not to forget that if you really want to keep playing pure hybrid, summoner builds are the best choice in my opinion as you "should rarely get hit" but that is obviously no guarantee of your survival.

With this said, you also have to keep in mind that the current state of the game for most build rips are caused by 1 shots, as well as the fact that this build guide is supposed to be designed towards a low budget standard which means the keystone approach is also cheaper. However, I would personally for highest end-game content not play hybrid in any way or form as a summoner. If i were to chose and play a low budget build I would personally take the sustaining of my effective HP over covering 1 shots "as long as i don't get hit before that big hit".

Seeing as you've died more times after changing in to this approach you have to keep in mind that damage over time effects bypasses the ES due to MoM, as well as chaos damage can be rippy in the later stages, getting some spare chaos res is not a bad idea if you feel that, that is the main reason of you dying. :)

I hope the information helped, if you still feel confused let me know and I'll do my best to sort you out bro!

Playing this in HC. Ripped once to cruel daresso (should have gotten myself a logout macro...). Anyway second run I'm just shy of 80 and having a lot of fun. Two questions:

Spectre level/de-leveling. If I go to a T16 map, and summon spectres, and then run a T14, it will drop them to a T14 level. But if I go back up to another T16 after will they be T16 strength again, or stay T14?

Is the scourge worth getting? It looks like a large damage increase, but one I have to keep up myself. It's also rather expensive in HC. Currently I'm just using a clayshaper since I'm res capped for a second stone golem.

Thanks!

Nice Guide, thanks for sharing, I am using it but it needs mobility to take advantage of 100%, is it possible that you can give me re-measurements and / or some modifications in skills and passives for someone who plays with high latency? I would like the summons to do even more of the work and that I really need to do little even if I die, is that possible?

@ladillo

If you want your minions to be a bit more on the clear speed side of things, and are fine with losing a bit of surviveability, you can take the necromantic aegis passive, which will make your shield apply to your minions. Buy the unique shield victario's charity, which will make all your minions give your other minions (and you) charges. This speeds them up quite a bit and they will crit more often. Also get a copy of the unending hunger jewel for your spectres. This one's a bit more subjective but I think it helps especially in high density situations such as strongboxes and breaches.

Oh thanks @agentanorexia, I'll take your suggestions into account, I'll look for what you recommend and I'll see how that works for me.
Any other suggestions for empowering the minions will be well received..

The maximum cap of the spectres is based of the area lvl (and desecrate of course) that you summoned them in. If you go to any lower lvl areas they will downscale to that, however, they will scale back up to a maximum of the area lvl that you summoned them in. So if you get them in t16 and enter a t10 and then back to a t16 they will scale back up to t16.

When it comes to Scourge, it's always a nice boost in damage but does come very pricey :/

User: "agentanorexia" response is the approach I'd recommend as well.

I honestly don't see any other options you can go for with high latency I'm afraid :/

I just noticed my flame sentinels do not use fireball anymore, do you have any idea what might be happening? Am I just making a noob mistake?
EDIT: nevermind, I was summoning Galvanic Ribbons and not flame sentinels, they look very similar lol.

Hi Ghazzy,

thank you for this build. It was the first time, i killed Atziri (lv 90, 5L). I am using a bone helmet (40% MD, +2 lvl to minion gems, +27% minimion life) and the scourge terror claw (together 60c). That gives me 410% minion damage, which is a nice boost. After crafting a 6 link vis mortis it has a good clearspeed. I am using only EE for now, but will try the other keystones too.
